blurts out “Show me more of those eyes!”
I don’t understand why they made the tone of the old anime so much different from the OG manga. It looked great, but the characters were so bland I couldn’t get into it. I’m going to try the new one once more episodes are out.
I think it was a mixture of Mamoru Oshii’s quiet existential style, with some of the tone that was very popular at that time, eg. Akira. As far as I know, Masamune Shirow appreciated the alternative interpretation. It’s similar with the Patlabor movies Mamoru directed vs the TV show.
The new show is great so far, though!
Oh, is it finally airing?
It is! Two eps so far on Amazon or wherever. Second ep is a to be continued, the first is self-contained. Although this is from 7:30 of the second ep, if you’re curious!
Ooh, that’s exciting!
Two cute chicks giving you attention with your sensitivity set 8 times above normal no wonder she was making that face, if she was a dude it would been nothing but refractory
What’s the context behind that frame? The Major looks really cute.
I think the second pic is from the new series, which is MUCH closer to the original manga. This includes a lot of the silliness and humour that was there. Most of the adaptations were very dark and serious, but the manga had lots of typical anime quirks and tropes.
Yeah the original manga … whilst having a lot of incredible ideas and themes… was a lot more carefree and goofy, and explicity risque/horny.
Like … the Major has a boyfriend she is a goofball with, and she basically works part time as a uh … cyberpunk black market lesbian courtesan?
The idea is that more similar cybernetic bodies are uh, easier to interface with, and you can basically run your own ghost through someone elses shell, and give them a good time… presuming you don’t accidentally kill them.
She jokes about this too… she’s extremely sexual, not just in appearance, but in action, in lifestyle.
Yeah it’s super cute
