    I tell myself “when we move to the city, it’ll all be okay, and I’ll make friends” (no clue why I think in the plural first-person lol). It’s a lie, though. I’m never gonna have fun or make friends. I suppose I’m simply broken.

    It’s not just money because, like the title says, you also have to feel safe when you go out (and for me, mental health issues are also a big difficulty), but having fun often costs money. Sure, you can just go on a walk and that’s free, but so many activities cost money. All the posted jobs I see that I’m qualified for are full-time, but I can’t work full-time. So I have very little money to do fun stuff, and buying a tub of ice cream is a treat :c

      Makes sense considering third spaces like malls, parks, underground tunnels, etc. are being bought up by tech companies and turned into AI data centers. They’re pricing people out of third spaces.

    I am ashamed to admit that in my teens and twenties feeling unsafe was an essential part of going out and having a good time.
