I’m out of the loop, did he do something problematic? Most I knew about the guy is that he’s weirdly religious, but he seems to keep that to himself so it’s totally fine.

Either way, in my personal ranking of Indie devs Scott is miles above YandereDev and PirateSoftware just on the merit of Scott actually finishing projects in reasonable timeframes. Gotta respect the grind.

He gave money to people, political parties and organisations who are anti-trans and anti-queer.

Considering a lot of FNAF’s fanbase are either both or one of those things they felt let down, but also he was rightly criticised for it.

He didn’t apologise though, he just doubled down and said it was his money (that he made from queer and trans people in part) so he could do with it what he liked.

Nobody seems to have remembered or mentioned that Game Theory also came out in support of him, or at least the FNAF series. Not surprising really as MatPat always seemed somewhat religious too.

So yeah, it’s an interesting but tainted series now and we hope people aren’t still giving it money or if they are it isn’t going to Scott.

Like with Harry Potter fans, at some point you need to let it go and that’s when the creator pushes hate.

Fuck that noise. The dude materially hurts queer people, and it’s not like FNAF is some transcendent work of art with no fandoms similar to or adjacent to it. At this point, saying “death of the author” just feels like a justification for popularizing a property that funds hate.

I am with you there. I wouldn’t introduce someone new to harry potter, but I still cherish the memory’s of growing up with it. That stupid bitch don’t hold no power over that with her racist and sexist behavior. Its my story now that helped me trough a harsh, lonely childhood.

that’s about interpreting the work, not about absolving moral choices
